The studio
A cabinetry studio that starts with the room, not the box.
Metro Cabinet Company was founded in Sarasota in 2003 by Billue Guignard. The foundation of the work is space design, shaped by Sarasota roots, formal design training, and an understanding of how a home is meant to live.
Influenced by Sarasota's architectural tradition, the work considers light, proportion, material, and the relationship between indoors and out. Rather than repeating standard solutions, cabinetry is designed to work in harmony with the architecture of the home.

The approach
Before it is built, it is drawn.
Every Metro project begins as a set of drawings. Scroll to watch the thinking come back over a finished kitchen: the module the room is built on, the sightlines that stay open, and the four things the plan is judged against.
Light
The plan starts with where the daylight comes from and how far into the room it reaches.
Proportion
Bay widths, drawer heights, and reveals are set as a repeating module rather than fitted at the end.
Material
Wood, stone, and metal are selected together so the surfaces read as one decision.
Indoors and out
Sightlines are held open so the room stays connected to the space beyond it.

Design
Every project begins with a conversation about your vision and your personal style. Concepts take shape through detailed sketches, 3D renderings, and technical drawings, so the vision is clear before production begins.
Installation
Craftsmen work alongside the design team so the cabinetry integrates into the home exactly as drawn. The design team stays involved throughout, overseeing precision and solving anything that comes up.
Maintenance
Cabinets are built with high-performance, durable hardware. With normal use an occasional adjustment helps, such as tightening hinge screws or fine-tuning runners, and the team is available to walk you through it.
